Bob the Builder Game Cards

M loves Bob the Builder… obsessively. It’s really a great show – very positive about working together. It’s full of encouragement and confidence building and even forgiveness when something goes wrong or a mistake is made.

So, in our house the Bob talk is non-stop lately. I remember someone saying you can use something your child is interested in to help them learn about anything.

Well, I made these for M this week… blog pics 106 Name cards for some of the trucks with glass pebbles to match the letters with. I found some flat glass ones at Dollar Tree (um, of course!) and wrote the letters on them with permanent marker. M loves it and gave me a list of names for other trucks that he wants me to make. Hee hee.

I also made these game cards:image I printed two sets and we used them for a memory game today. He LOVED them and was so excited. I’m going to use them to teach him how to play “Go Fish” too.

Of course they are printable. :) If you have a Bob the Builder lover just click on the image above and you can download the set. There are 17 cards in all. You’ll need to print 2 sets of course. The names of the trucks are printed on there too because moms can’t always remember important things like that! ;)

I want to make some more activity pack type things with these lovely trucks since he’s responded so well to these two. Any ideas??

Have a beautiful day! :)

**UPDATE** The original version of the game cards had an incorrect name for one of the trucks in it. It's been corrected and the new version is now linked up. 11/13/09

  1. That is a great idea to incorporate something he loves into learning. That way he is learning while having fun!!

  2. What a cute idea!

Selena has caught on to the little song "Can he build it? Yes, he can!" From where I don't know, but it is cute to hear her sing it.

I like the way you have incorporated something he loves into his learning!

  5. Very cool. My boy loved Bon when he was younger, I wonder if the baby will be the same..mmmm.

What about size sequencing, matching the names to the trucks.

  6. My little construction truck lover will love this! We haven't watched too much Bob the Builder, but I'm sure he will enjoy it just the same. Thanks for sharing!

  7. You ahve 2 Dizzy characters on your cards. I think one of them is supposed to be Gripper.

    The cards look great otherwise!

  8. I don't think I put the right name...I meant that Dizzy (the truck) should be Gripper.

    thanks,

  9. Heather, thanks for catching that. The second one should be Packer. I used the Dizzy text box for all of them and I guess I didn't change that particular one. I don't have one for Gripper - couldn't find a good pic. Thanks!

  12. Hi Nicole

I love how you have used Bob The Builder to make these fantastic activities. The name cards you made are such a perfect activity for letter recognition and what a great idea to use the glass pebbles. I can see why M would absolutely love this.

The truck game cards you made are awesome. How fun to play memory with these. I am trying to think of other uses for these, all I can come up with at the moment is to select a particular truck and use it to make a size sequencing activity if you can easily increase or decrease the size of the truck.

I have read a few blog posts about Jesse trees lately and was going to google for some ideas of how I could do this with a young child. I was so grateful to see that you have so kindly provided a wealth of information in your blog post about this and even included suitable ornaments. Thank you so much for sharing this. It is printing right now as I type this comment.

Having an art box really does allow for open ended art. M prouced such a briliant variety of art work. I especially love his vibrant and gorgeous painting, it really is amazing. Lately, I have been finding that Savvy is not always keen to do a particular art activity (if this is this case we just leave it, or sometimes she proposes an alternative idea). I am thinking that I need to do what you have done here and provide a more flexible approach where she can choose what she wants to use when we do art.
